We have taken a number of steps to help ensure this website is as accessible as possible to people with disabilities.
Local company Red E Web Design built the website for us using WordPress and applied a strong focus to accessibility. They installed the “Accessible Responsive WordPress Theme” developed by Lotus Seeds Design, which gives compliance with the widely accepted standard for website accessibility. This standard is Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
The accessibility features incorporated in our website include the following.
There are three toggles or switches down the left-hand edge of each page.
- The one at the top allows you to turn “high contrast” on and off.
- The one in the middle lets you turn “grayscale” on and off.
- The one at the bottom is for turning “large characters” on and off.
There are “Skip to content” and “Skip to navigation” buttons at the top of each page.
Instead of using a mouse, you can navigate around the website using the tab key. The field that you have tabbed to is highlighted with a red box. Press the Enter key when you have arrived at the field you wish to select.
